President Obama, flanked by a varied of group of law enforcement officials, DREAMers, business and labor as well as religious leaders said there was never a better time to pass immigration reform.
“The bipartisan bill is the best chance we’ve had in years,” said President Obama, speaking about the Senate “Gang of Eight” bill. The Senate will vote this afternoon to formally begin the bill’s amendment process in the Senate floor.
Saying not everyone “is going to get what they want” in an immigration bill, not even him, the president said the bill takes care of the most important priorities for immigration legislation: border security, employer accountability, and a pathway to citizenship for the nation’s approximately 11 million undocumented.
